YOUR FIRST CHIROPRACTIC APPOINTMENT
Your first visit is about understanding what is bothering you, assessing what may be contributing to it, and deciding on the most appropriate next step.
Before you book
You do not need to know exactly what is causing your symptoms before making an appointment. The first visit is designed to help clarify what may be contributing to the problem and whether chiropractic care is appropriate.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Your appointment will begin with a discussion about what has been bothering you, when it started, how it affects your daily activities, and any relevant health history.
This is your opportunity to explain what you are experiencing, what concerns you, and what you would like help with.
YOUR HISTORY
I will ask more detailed questions about your symptoms, previous episodes, injuries, medical history, medication and anything else that may be relevant to the problem.
YOUR EXAMINATION
A relevant physical examination will then be performed. This may include movement, joint and muscle assessment, neurological testing or other clinical checks depending on your symptoms.
The examination is guided by what you tell me and what is clinically appropriate.
EXPLANATION OF FINDINGS
After the history and examination, I will explain what I have found in plain language and discuss what may be contributing to your symptoms.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions and understand the reasoning behind the recommended next step.
TREATMENT WHERE APPROPRIATE
If chiropractic care is appropriate, treatment may begin at the first appointment. This will depend on your history, examination findings and clinical needs.
Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, instrument-assisted techniques, soft tissue work, dry needling, strapping, mobility advice or exercise guidance where suitable.
ADVICE AND NEXT STEPS
Before you leave, I will discuss what to do next. Depending on your findings, this may include practical activity advice, mobility or exercise guidance, things to avoid temporarily, and whether follow-up care is recommended.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions and understand the reasoning behind the recommended next step.
REFERRAL OR IMAGING WHEN NEEDED
If your symptoms or examination findings suggest that another healthcare professional, imaging or further investigation may be more appropriate, this will be discussed with you.
Chiropractic care is not automatically the right next step for every problem.
